What is RVG?

Diagnosis can be made with low doses of X-rays with RVG (RadioVisioGraphy). It is the most frequently used imaging system today.

RVG, or RadioVisioGraphy, means digital X-ray. This system is considered one of the best developments that technology has offered to dentistry. With this method, instead of the old system X-ray known as film shooting, digital films are taken via electronic sensors. These sensors directly transfer the intraoral image to the computer screen.

What is RVG (Radio Visio Graphy) Used For?

RVG (RadioVisioGraphy) allows diagnosis to be made quickly and without the effects of radiation. It has more advantages than classical X-ray in dentistry.

What are the Advantages of RVG (RadioVisioGraphy)?

  • RVG takes shorter time to shoot than old type X-ray films. Also, with this system, you are exposed to less x-rays. In short, it reduces the radiation rate by approximately 90 percent.
  • RVG can also perform processes such as bone density and canal length measurement. Therefore, it can be easily used in root canal treatment and implant applications.
  • In the method, film bath is not required as in classical X-ray. The image is directly transferred to the computer screen. Therefore, it is considered a faster method. It also reduces costs.
  • Digital images can be given to the patient by printing on a paper or transferring to a CD.
