What is a Clear Aligner?

A clear aligner is one of the important orthodontic treatment methods that allow people to smile confidently. It has been developed as an alternative to metal and porcelain braces. These clear aligners are used for teeth that are crooked and misaligned to a certain extent.

Invisalign, i.e. clear wires, invisible wires, invisible aligners; Although it has many names, Invisalign is the most invisible solution for your orthodontic treatment. Invisalign does not use fixed braces or brackets to gradually move your teeth. Instead, custom-created plastic invisalign retainers (called "aligners"), which visually resemble custom-whitening trays, are used to move your teeth into the proper position one at a time.

Invisalign is a selected teeth straightening method for many adults and teenagers, so they can avoid the common perceptions of your typical braces. It is actually easier to maintain your oral hygiene with Invisalign, and there is less chance of tooth decay for youngsters who have braces that keep the teen or adult from flossing and brushing properly. They can remove and re-insert their aligners, brushes, and flosses.

Invisalign's innovative technology can treat crowding, spacing, open bites, underbites, and crossbites in both adults and teens. Treatment times with invisible braces are comparable to treatment times with traditional fixed braces.

More than 1 million patients around the world have corrected their smiles with Invisalign or Invisalign Teen invisible braces.

Traditional fixed braces tend to disrupt life by creating a more complicated oral health care routine, food restrictions, and limited photo-ops. But with Invisalign there are no restrictions in brackets, and you can enjoy the freedom of straightening your teeth wirelessly. Invisalign is a choice for aesthetically conscious adults and teens.

Why Clear Aligner?

WHAT IS NEEDED TO START?

After the treatment is decided, the patient's photos are taken, x-rays are requested, and measurements of the lower and upper jaw teeth are taken. After the measurements are shipped to the Invisalign company, a computer simulation of the teeth is received. After the orthodontist makes the analysis and changes on the computer simulation, he/she sits down with the patient and determines the final state of the treatment and sends the approved final state to the company.

CAN I SEE MY TEETH STRAIGHTENED BEFORE STARTING TREATMENT?

Yes, the computer simulation shows the state that the teeth will take at the end of the treatment. You can also make corrections in the direction you want on the final version with your doctor. However, it should be noted that the result to be obtained depends on the response of the patient's body and the duration of use of the aligners.

WHAT IS A COMPUTER SIMULATION?

Computer simulation is an application used to predict the image of your teeth and the shape they will take at the end of treatment. Within the month after your measurements are taken, your doctor makes the desired changes on your teeth and the patient's ideas are taken to bring them to their final state. Before starting treatment, the patient has the chance to see the final state of his/her teeth.”

HOW DOES ALIGNER TREATMENT MOVE TEETH?

After your treatment is planned on the computer, aligner plates are produced. After the plates are placed on the teeth, they start applying force and each plate usage creates movement up to approximately 0.5 mm in the teeth. Tooth movement is provided. With each plate change, new forces are applied and the teeth are gradually straightened.

WILL I HAVE PAIN IN MY TEETH DURING ALIGNER TREATMENT?

Like orthodontic treatments with wire treatment, Aligner plates apply forces to move your teeth. Due to these forces, there will be pressure and throbbing in the teeth for a few days. In the following days, your teeth continue to move, but the discomfort in your teeth passes.

APPOINTMENT FREQUENCIES

Appointments are normally given between 4-6 weeks, but your doctor may want to see you and perform some procedures within a different period. At the appointments, the patient's computer simulation is opened, the current intraoral image and the computer image are compared, and the treatment is continued accordingly. Attachment addition / removal or abrasion procedures are applied as needed.

HOW MANY HOURS A DAY SHOULD I WEAR CLEAR ALIGNERS?

You should wear clear aligners for an average of 22 hours a day. The ideal is to remove it only while eating.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES COMPARED TO WIRE TREATMENT?

The most important feature of Aligner plates is that they are almost invisible. It is very advantageous for people who care about their appearance and think that orthodontic wires will affect their work. It does not negatively affect speech. Another advantage is that it can be removed while eating. The fact that it is also removed during care and brushing helps to protect oral hygiene more easily. There is no significant difference in duration between wire treatment and Aligner treatments in terms of treatment duration.
